I’ve passed this place several times, and honestly didn’t know what a papusa was. I decided to stop in. I got the chicken and cheese papusa. It was great. You get like a pickled slaw and a tomato sauce with it that’s awesome. The price was also great. Less than $5 and it was a meal.
The pupusas were okay, and the price per pupusa was great. I also ordered a large lemonade. When I was paying the bill I was blown away by the price of the lemonade. I was charged $5.95 for a large lemonade. I was very upset and I have decided that I will never go back there again. That is highway robbery. Lemons are only 4 for $1, the water is practically free, and sugar is $3.64 for a 5 lb. bag!
Oloquilta serves pupusas (corn or rice dough stuffed with cheese, meat, or beans). That's what we went for. But they have SO much more. The asada (grilled meat) is fantastic. The peas and rice are comforting. And, yes, the pupusas are EXCELLENT. We had the loroco, (flower buds with cheese, like capers) the chicken and cheese, and the mixta, (cheese, beans, and pork. All were excellent. The woman behind the counter apologized for the time it took for our order but I watched another woman pat the pupusas together before putting them on the griddle. I'll wait all day for that. I can't wait to go again and try someth...
